Alzheimer’s Care and Memory Support Care

Vi at Grayhawk offers a memory support program suited for residents with mild to moderate Alzheimer's and related cognitive conditions.

Alzheimer's/memory support care includes:

• A service plan based on an individual evaluation
• Assistance with dressing, grooming, bathing, toileting, transferring and ambulating
• A dining experience that responds to the challenges that residents with Alzheimer's may encounter at mealtimes
  • We provide contrasting colors for tablecloths, napkins, and tableware
  • We offer foods at every meal that are easier to eat
  • We promote adequate nutrition
• Coordination of medical appointments and health care needs
• Group-oriented and one-on-one programs provided by our dedicated staff based on individual needs and preferences
• Medication administration
• Wellness programming designed to encourage physical and cognitive exercise, with activities such as fitness classes and music therapy

Services available for an additional fee* include:

• Physical, speech and occupational therapy
• Ancillary medical supplies and services
• Pharmaceutical services
• Personal companion services
• Personal transportation
• Personal laundry service
• Salon services

Within the soothing and relaxing care center setting, we help orient residents and instill
 a sense of familiarity into the surroundings with readily recognized memory cues that use sight, sound, and aroma. Individual climate control and baths with easy-access showers and assist bars support physical comfort, while group and individual programs and events help promote independence and encourage connection. We select these tools and design our programs to stimulate memory, and provide meaningful experiences.

Alzheimer's Care and Memory Support Services and Amenities

The memory support program features private residential suites as well as an inviting family room plus country kitchen with family-style dining room.

Additional services and amenities we provide to residents in our memory support program include:

• Three meals each day, prepared under the supervision of a classically trained executive chef. Our chefs have received customized training by the Culinary Institute of America on nutrition, healthy cooking and baking techniques, flavor dynamics
• Weekly laundering of bed and bath linens
• Weekly light housekeeping service and daily light housekeeping, including bed making
• The discovery garden enables residents to enjoy the sights and sounds of the outdoors
• A comfortable great room promotes social interaction for residents and their families

To help each resident stay engaged, we offer a variety of specialized programs and activities designed around a broad range of interests and abilities. From creative arts to aromatherapy to music appreciation, these activities promote a sense of accomplishment and wellbeing, while helping residents create new memories. We are committed to inspiring meaningful experiences so residents can maintain their sense of self to the greatest extent possible.

Support for Families

We understand that seeing a loved one with Alzheimer's and memory loss can be frightening and confusing. We offer educational seminars and a resource library with information about Alzheimer's for our residents' families and friends. We also welcome support groups to meet at our community.
