Classic Residence by Hyatt Partners with Sunkist Growers
Chefs Take Residents on a ’Round the World Flavor Journey
Chicago, Illiniois -
March 13, 2008
Residents at Classic Residence by Hyatt, a national leader in
luxury senior living, are experiencing a culinary adventure this
month. At all of the company's 18 operating communities, the
executive chefs, in partnership with Sunkist Growers, are
celebrating the "World of Citrus Flavors," a four-week cuisine
adventure featuring a variety of recipes inspired by the
Mediterranean, Asia, Latin American, and traditional American
"comfort" foods.
The second annual co-promotion, which kicked off on March 3, is
designed to combine fresh California and Arizona citrus with the
ingredients and aromas of the four popular cuisines, which are
rotating weekly to take residents on a "tour" of global flavors.
Every day this month, the chefs are incorporating citrus items and
recipes into each community's daily menu offerings in order to
create an exciting and healthful food landscape for the residents,
with a focus on the multitude and flexibility of available fresh
citrus-featuring fresh lemons, limes, oranges, grapefruits, and
mandarins in a variety of dishes, from appetizers and entrees to
desserts and even beverages.
Sunkist Growers provided fun, educational "goody bags," which
contained oranges and a "citrus wheel," which detailed the
varietals of various California and Arizona citrus to help
familiarize residents with some of the more exotic fruits that
Sunkist grows, such as the Pummelo (tart; hint of jasmine and lime
aroma; juice has candied almond taste), as well as informative
posters and table-toppers for the dining rooms.
Prospective residents have also been invited to share in the
tart-to-sweet experience. Several communities are hosting cooking
demonstrations featuring "World of Citrus Flavors" recipes, as well
as a take-home recipe card packet featuring new and different ways
to add zest to food using natural citrus flavors.
The "World of Citrus Flavors" program is a natural extension of
the company's commitment to providing each of its residents with an
exceptional dining experience every day -one plate at a time. "At
Classic Residence by Hyatt, we are constantly innovating so that
the fine, restaurant-quality dining experience is unique at every
meal," said Don Clawson, assistant vice president of food and
beverage, Classic Residence by Hyatt. "We use healthful, fresh
ingredients, like citrus fruits grown by Sunkist, to create bold
flavors and nutritious dishes for the aging palate."
At the core of its commitment to dining innovation, Classic
Residence by Hyatt has engaged The Culinary Institute of America to
help chefs develop the newest in healthy menu options inspired by
international cuisine. The company's chefs have all received
customized training provided by The Culinary Institute of America
on nutrition, healthy cooking and baking techniques, flavor
dynamics and food and wine pairing.
