Community Joins Renewable Energy Program
Palo Alto, CA -
January 29, 2009
The City of Palo Alto Utilities (CPAU) announced today that
Classic Residence by Hyatt in Palo Alto will purchase renewable
energy through PaloAltoGreen, CPAU's renewable energy program.
Classic Residence by Hyatt will purchase the equivalent of the
annual output of one-half of a large-scale wind turbine.
The Classic Residence by Hyatt's in Palo Alto renewable power
commitment-1,320,000 kilowatt hours annually derived from clean
wind and solar generation sources-is one of the larger clean power
commitments to PaloAltoGreen. It enables Classic Residence by Hyatt
to join the U.S. EPA Green Power Partnership. "We are pleased by
Classic Residence by Hyatt's participation in PaloAltoGreen," said
Brian Ward, PaloAltoGreen Program Manager. "We hope other
businesses in our community will follow its lead and add additional
support for renewable energy through PaloAltoGreen."
Classic Residence by Hyatt's clean power commitment in Palo Alto
will avoid the annual release of 1,598,520 pounds of carbon
dioxide, a potent greenhouse gas. This has the annual environmental
equivalence to protecting 164 acres of trees or removing 132 cars
from the road.
"Classic Residence by Hyatt is committed to making Classic
Residence by Hyatt in Palo Alto as environmentally friendly as
possible. Our purchase of renewable energy through PaloAltoGreen is
one of many ways we are trying to reach this goal and add value for
our residents," said Steve Brudnick, executive director, Classic
Residence by Hyatt in Palo Alto.
