Residents of Vi at Grayhawk 'Pay it Forward' to Employees at Grayhawk with 22 College Scholarships

Vi at Grayhawk, a Vi and Plaza Companies community located in North Scottsdale, today announced non-profit corporation, The Grayhawk Classic Residence Residents' Foundation, has designated nearly $120,000 in scholarships to support the educational endeavors of 22 Vi at Grayhawk employees for the 2010/2011 academic year.

"Our residents never slow down, they are on a mission to help others," explains Steven Jones, executive director, Vi at Grayhawk. "Even in this uncertain economy, the resident foundation here at Grayhawk stepped it up this year and increased its scholarship funding approximately $40,000 over 2009."

Each spring, Vi at Grayhawk employees who meet pre-determined criteria may apply for college scholarships for themselves or their children who are dependents. The scholarship application process involves: completing an application, preparing a personal essay and providing a letter of reference and school transcripts. Applicants are interviewed by the foundation's Scholarship Committee and are informed during the summer regarding scholarship status.

Formed in 2002, The Vi at Grayhawk Residents' Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of life in the North Scottsdale community by enhancing the cultural, emotional, intellectual and physical interests of area residents. To date, the foundation has awarded more than $400,000 in scholarships to Vi at Grayhawk employees. The scholarships cover tuition and academic fees.

"The residents appreciate the efforts of the employees who make our lives better on a daily basis. We enjoy giving back to them and take an active interest in how classes are going. It really enhances the family atmosphere here at the Grayhawk community," explains Dr. Jane McGrath, Board member, The Grayhawk Classic Residence Residents' Foundation.
