Tracking Hurricane Hilary

We are continuing to track Hurricane Hilary. This weather event has the potential to affect Vi at La Jolla Village in the San Diego area.

Heavy rainfall associated with Hilary has begun from the Baja California Peninsula into Southwestern California. Hurricane conditions are expected along the west-central coast within the hurricane warning area.

Tropical storm warnings are in effect for Southern California. Hilary is currently a category 1 hurricane with sustained winds up to 90 mph. The center of Hilary is tracking to move through San Diego and Los Angeles Counties.

Rain will start to reach the southern regions of California and Arizona beginning early Sunday morning and continue into Monday. Flood watches are in effect for Southern California

The community has put into effect its Emergency Preparedness Plan and will shelter-in-place beginning at 12 noon Sunday, August 20, 2023 through 12 noon Monday, August 21, 2023.
