Vi at Highlands Ranch Raises $48,500 in Walk to End Alzheimer's

2022 Marks Ninth Consecutive Year of Community Participation

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. (October 31, 2022)Vi at Highlands Ranch, an elevated senior living community near Denver, announced today that $48,500 was raised by community participants in the 2022 Walk to End Alzheimer's event on September 17 at Denver City Park. More than 175 Vi at Highlands Ranch residents, team members and their families joined together to raise funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. For the fifth consecutive year, Vi at Highlands Ranch’s fundraising total exceeded that of any other senior living community in the area.

Since Vi at Highlands Ranch began participating in the Walk in 2014, the community has raised a total of $159,753, through the participation of residents, their families, and team member support. Additionally, Vi has organized Alzheimer's fundraising through direct contributions, participation in the Walk and a variety of initiatives, such as silent auctions, bake sales, department basket raffles. For the past three years, one anonymous Vi resident has matched donations up to $20,000 per year, inspiring further support.

"We had an amazing opportunity to show our support at the Walk to End Alzheimer's event this year," said Angela Owens, Lifestyle Director at Vi at Highlands Ranch. "We appreciate all of our residents, their families, and the employees at Vi who continue to participate and donate, creating a lasting impact on this important cause.”

"Our residents and staff have stepped up, even throughout the pandemic, to raise awareness and funding for research in the fight against Alzheimer's disease," said Susan Straight, Admissions Coordinator at Vi at Highlands Ranch’s Care Center. "Finding a cure for Alzheimer's is an effort everyone in the community feels close to because of how it's affected family and friends. We are proud to have raised a significant sum for the fifth year and aim to further become a leader for Alzheimer advocacy in the greater Denver community."

The Alzheimer's Association of Colorado was founded in 1980 and is the primary source of information and support for the more than 76,000 people living with Alzheimer's in Colorado and their families. The Alzheimer's Association provides a wide range of programs and services through its statewide offices, including a 24-hour Helpline, virtual events, educational programs, and more. The Colorado Chapter serves the entire state with a network of staff based in Boulder, Colorado Springs, Denver, Ft. Collins, Grand Junction, and Greeley.

In 2010, Vi at Highlands Ranch opened a memory care unit to assist residents with mild to moderate dementia and other cognitive conditions. With attentive caregivers on site 24 hours a day, seven days a week, residents can engage in different activities designed to meet their needs. All the offerings aim to stimulate memory and provide residents with a meaningful experience to keep them active and healthy.
