A Statement on COVID-19 from Vi

Updated: May 7, 2021

Since the coronavirus pandemic began in early 2020, Vi at Palo Alto has been committed to the health and well-being of its residents and employees during this tumultuous time.

Vi continues to take necessary health and safety measures to prevent and limit the spread of COVID-19 at our long-term care communities.

As such, effective August 1, 2021, Vi will require all community-based workers and personnel to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of continued employment with us. For more details about this policy, please see our FAQs or contact the Executive Director.

The vaccination mandate does not apply to Vi residents or their personal visitors and guests. Currently, an overwhelming majority of Vi residents have chosen to be vaccinated against COVID-19. We are grateful for the cooperation and spirit of Vi residents to “do their part” throughout the pandemic.

According to the CDC, vaccination against COVID-19, together with following COVID-19 safety precautions, is the most effective way to protect individuals against COVID-19 infection and prevent further COVID-19 transmission to others.

The well-being of our residents is always our top priority, and we’re taking steps toward brighter days — as one community.

Reopening the community

Vi at Palo Alto continues to implement a cautious, its multi-phase strategy to reintroduce activities and services in adherence with state and local health agency guidelines.

This strategy provides a framework for gradually modifying our COVID-19 protocols in Independent Living, with Care Centers following a separate plan. While we continue to focus on detection and prevention of the coronavirus, our goal is to methodically reopen our community’s services, activities and common spaces in phases once the established criteria are met.

We continue to offer myriad virtual resources to bolster the mind, body and spirit of our residents and help keep them active, engaged and connected. Those resources have included TED Talks, The Great Courses, virtual museum tours, daily balcony waves, fitness classes, cooking classes, online puzzles and other “stir-crazy” activities.

Vi sales teams have been offering virtual tours and events for prospects, and some have begun reinitiating in-person tours and events in adherence with the guidelines in our reopening strategy. Please contact us to learn more.
