Employee Vaccine Mandate & More: The Latest on COVID-19 from Vi

A Statement on COVID-19 from Vi

Updated: August 31, 2021

Since the coronavirus pandemic began in early 2020, Vi at Palo Alto has been committed to the health and well-being of its residents and employees—and this commitment continues today.

Effective August 1, 2021, Vi requires all employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19. For more details about this policy, please contact the Executive Director.

The vaccination mandate does not apply to Vi residents or their personal visitors and guests. Since we began offering on-site vaccine clinics for residents in December 2020, however, an overwhelming majority of residents have chosen to be vaccinated.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has announced a plan to begin offering COVID-19 booster shots in the fall. Vi will keep residents informed on upcoming booster clinics at the communities. Visit the CDC website to read more about the booster or contact the Executive Director for further details.

We’re grateful to Vi residents for choosing to “do their part” throughout the pandemic.

According to the CDC, vaccination against COVID-19, together with following COVID-19 safety precautions, is the most effective way to protect individuals against COVID-19 infection and prevent further COVID-19 transmission to others. Visit the CDC website to learn more.

Community Activities and COVID Precautions

Vi at Palo Alto is implementing a phased reopening strategy that reintroduces activities, dining, and services. We continue to follow guidance from local/state health authorities and the CDC about masking, social distancing and other COVID-related precautions.

We are dedicated to keeping residents abreast of any community updates that might affect them. Regular communications are sent to our residents via letters, updates to our in-house message systems, and other channels.

Visitors are being welcomed to the community. If visiting a loved one, we recommend you contact them for the latest information on this policy.

Vi sales teams are reinitiating in-person tours and events in adherence with the guidelines in our reopening strategy. Please be aware that we are assessing the viability of in-person events on an ongoing basis. Many communities also continue to offer tours and events virtually for prospects. Please contact us to learn more.
