Vi awarded Training magazine’s Top 125
Training Magazine ranks Vi as a Top 125 Organization for fifth consecutive year
For a fifth year in a row, Vi, a national leader in luxury senior living, has been recognized for excellence in employee education and training by Training magazine.  Vi's ranking of #73 is based on quantitative and qualitative measures and how closely organizational development programs align with core business objectives and outcomes.

Vi was honored at an awards gala at the Training 2015 Conference & Expo held in early February at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Ga. Judy Whitcomb, Vi's Senior Vice President for Human Resources and Learning and Organizational Development, was on-hand at the gala for the announcement and accepted the award on behalf of the organization.

"It's a great honor to be recognized by Training magazine for our commitment to employee development.  We continue to strive to offer the very best training programs in the senior living industry," Whitcomb said. "We invest heavily in employee development and educational opportunities and know that a well-trained staff deliver the quality care and service that lies at the heart of our business. Investments in learning and development are keys to employee engagement, career advancement, and performance.  Our employee and resident satisfaction survey results reflect that well-trained and engaged employees contribute significantly to our residents' satisfaction," she added.

Training magazine has awarded Vi with the honor for the past five consecutive years. One of the qualifying reasons Vi has succeed in the eyes of the publication is due to a wide range of learning opportunities including instructor-led, online, and webinar courses on a variety of topics ranging from general business and communications to specific skills related to their roles. Additionally, Vi's management development program offers employees the opportunity to participate in a yearlong educational program to help prepare participants for a leadership role within the company.

"We provide employees professional development in many forms, including self-paced learning from our online university or mentorship from team members," Whitcomb said. "We offer ongoing learning, growth, and education opportunities throughout the organization. Whether employees work in a dining room, kitchen, resident care, housekeeping, or sales, Vi provides opportunities to refine existing skills and acquire new knowledge and experience."

Additional award winners for 2015 include Keller Williams Realty, Inc., who took the top spot this year (up from No. 2 in 2014). Jiffy Lube International drove into the No. 2 spot, with health-care companies dominating the rest of the Top 5, with Capital BlueCross, CHG Healthcare Services, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan notching Nos. 3, 4, and 5, respectively.

Now in its 15th year, the Training Top 125 is the only report that ranks companies unsurpassed in harnessing human capital. Some applicant statistics of note:

  • The average number of full-time and part-time trainers was 117 and 674, respectively.
  • 97 percent of applicants have a tuition reimbursement program.
  • 99 percent of applicants use employee satisfaction surveys
