Vi at La Jolla Village Earns a Place Among
the Best Places to Work in San Diego for 2016.

Continuing care retirement community receives high ratings for quality of workplace and employee experience.

Chicago, IL – August 30, 2016 – Vi at La Jolla Village has earned a place on the 2016 list of Best Places to Work in San Diego, which is compiled by the San Diego Business Journal, Best Companies Group, and sponsor Kaiser Permanente.

As one of 10 Vi continuing care retirement communities throughout the nation, Vi at La Jolla Village features an upscale setting where seniors and staff members have a strong familial bond. Vi offers rewarding careers for those specializing resident services, nursing, and professional areas.

This accolade is awarded based on the findings of a two-part survey process. The first phase consists of an in-depth analysis of the company’s workplace policies, practices, systems, and demographics. The second includes an employee survey to determine the quality of the employee experience.
According to Stephanie Boudreau, Executive Director of Vi at La Jolla Village, the entire staff is even more encouraged and enthusiastic since learning of this honor. “Our mission of enriching the lives of our residents is extended to our employees. We want them to grow, both personally and professionally. To provide inspiration, the company emphasizes employee recognition with on-the-spot awards and formal quarterly and annual awards, in addition to numerous employee activities, benefits, and amenities. Each one of the La Jolla team members helps to make our community not only the ‘Best Place to Work’ but the best place to live for our residents.”

Judy Whitcomb, Vi’s Senior Vice President of Human Resources, Learning, and Organizational Development, is equally enthusiastic. “We are incredibly honored and proud to be selected. Every day, our employees make a difference in the lives of the residents they serve. Therefore, we continually strive to offer an exceptional work environment, the resources to learn and grow, and the opportunity to enjoy meaningful work.”

Indicative of the progressive employment practices that lead to such positive results, Vi at La Jolla Village plans to celebrate its collective win with an all-employee meeting, where they typically recognize new employees, employee years of service, and bestow service recognition awards.

In addition, all of the organizations on this year’s list were recognized at a reception and dinner on August 11, and the San Diego Business Journal profiled each of the winners in a special issue published on August 22.
